Now let's get to know Dee Dee's story!

What’s your short story?

I was born and raised in Florence, South Carolina. I am a mother and a down to earth lady who gives all of the glory to Jehovah God and Jesus. I wear many hats: I am a playwright; film producer, publisher, best-selling romance author, entrepreneur, voiceover actress, poet, philanthropist, and business woman.

When and why did you begin writing?

I have been writing since the age of six. It was something I always did. By the time I was a teenager, I was writing poetry and performing in front of audiences. I wrote my first book with the notebooks of stories that I had hand written.

Tell us about your latest book and give us the synopsis:

My latest release is titled, Loving The Manny.

Synopsis: Nyla Malone’s life takes a sad turn when her sister dies unexpectedly after birthing twins. With no family to care for the girls, Nyla takes a break from her successful PR firm to look after them. When funds run low, Nyla must return to work. However, finding a good nanny is impossible, and Nyla decides to give an all-male agency called: Manny To The Rescue a try. When the Manny arrives, he is so stunning that Nyla finds it impossible to look away. However, Nyla knows that he is off limits. She has had her heart ripped to shreds in the past and is determined to never fall under the charm of a good-looking man again. But the connection with The Manny is undeniable and his smile makes her toes curl…

Divorcee Randell Mackey’s life is all about work and heading his popular manny agency. When there is a shortage of Mannies at his firm, he must fill in. When he meets his beautiful new client, Nyla, his heart does a complete flip-flop and loses its rhythm. But Randell has no time for distractions. Not even if they come in the form of a drop-dead beauty with pleasing curves named Nyla. However, the longer the two spend time together, the more the sizzling chemistry deepens and Randell finds it impossible not to open up his heart to Nyla.

But Randell has deep issues that are preventing him from falling completely in love. Just when Nyla convinces him to let down his defenses, unexpected news arrives that threatens to wreck their relationship, and Nyla and Randell are left fighting to save the love that they never thought was possible.

What is the best and worst advice you ever received, regarding writing, or publishing?

The best advice was: to get started and not to worry about how much time it would take because the time would pass anyway. The worst advice I received was not to self-publish because self-published authors are less likely to be successful or sell books. I’m happy I didn’t listen.

Any advice for aspiring authors?

Lose the naysayers. If you have a talent, if you have a dream, surround yourself with like-minded people who will uplift and support you. Negative people are cancer. They will destroy you and steer you away from your dreams, if you let them. You have to stay free of as much negativity as possible. You also have to study, work hard and stay focused on your path. You can’t drive a car and worry about where the next car is going or you will crash. You have your own road to travel and you have to stay focused on it. Lastly, protect your dreams and surround yourself with people who believe in you and your vision.

What projects are you currently working on?

I am working on a movie called Lake House-Horror that will be released in select theaters soon.

How do you juggle the demands of your busy life and still have time to write?

I wrote ten of my books years ago, during a dry spell, when it seemed like I couldn’t get my foot in the door. At that time, I could have given up, but I realized that it is during your dry spells that you must continue working hard, and doing whatever it is that you do, so that when the time does come, you will be ready. Now, I have time to focus on my films, stage plays, and working with the authors who are signed to my publishing company.
