Joy Randall defines beauty

Updated: Jun 5, 2020

People of Charlotte, please meet Joy Randall! Joy is a native of Charlotte and is a professional light worker: it is her mission to spread positivity!

In what ways are you igniting confidence in Charlotteans?

As a beauty expert, my approach is to help people see beauty as a lifestyle. It’s so much more than hair, skin and makeup. I’ve worked as a professional makeup artist for over 15 years. My clients come from all demographics, celebrities to everyday people. And you know what I figured out? You can't talk about makeup without talking about skin, and you can't talk about skin without talking about health and you definitely can't talk about health without talking about emotions. Beauty is a full circle experience.

The work that I do is all about helping people learn to achieve and sustain the results they really want! Not only with makeup, skin and hair but literally transforming the way they see themselves and their imperfections. As a young black woman raised in the south, I’ve definitely had my own journey with traditional beauty standards.

About ten years back, I made a tough decision to love myself unconditionally, flaws and all.

I committed to making better decisions daily and stopped beating myself up for setbacks and things I didn’t know. I use this journey to share all I can and continue to discover when it comes to beauty.

You have created your own line of self-care products! Please tell us about that.

I still provide makeup services for clients and recently expanded my business to include more of my expertise, as well as my line of products for self-care. Self-care and beauty go hand in hand. So my products are a tangible way to take a sincere moment to care for yourself daily. My tag line is #ShopWhereYouAreLoved. I want my customers to know the product was handmade, with love, using highest quality ingredients. I truly believe small practices like applying your favorite body butter, especially after a long hard day, are exactly what finding the beauty is all about. You have to be intentional about creating it, so you understand the not so pretty parts of life will always be there.

Where can we find you?

I just reopened a private studio space in East Charlotte before Co-Vid hit. There I provide a variety of beauty and healing services. I created the space to really provide others a place to rest and restore. When people place their sense of beauty in your hands, they should feel safe. That’s what I love to do. To me, there’s nothing more beautiful than that.

You can also find me sharing on my blog!

People of Charlotte publishes stories about everyday Charlotteans, Carolinians, and beyond. We celebrate YOUR story because YOU matter. It is our mission to promote inclusiveness, unity, understanding, community, diversity, empathy, inspiration, and compassion.

Stories have power—they teach, inspire, motivate, and challenge us.

Stories help us to not only see others but to see ourselves more clearly, as we connect with the life stories of those in our community; a community that is strengthened by the power that is unleashed by the collective energy of individual stories.
