Meet Bryson, a kid who knows sports!

People of Charlotte, please meet Bryson, a young heart with a big passion for sports and community. When he isn't playing or watching sports, he is studying hard, exploring his entrepreneurial mind, and contributing to QCity Metro.

Now let's get to know Bryson's story!

When did your love of sports begin?

My love of sports began when I was about three years old. I played on my very first flag football team at that age and then started playing basketball at age four. Ever since then, I've been playing sports, watching sports and even launched a YouTube channel, "The Kid Knows Sports."

Favorite teams?

I am a die-hard Charlotte Hornets and Carolina Panthers fan. I also like the Charlotte Knights and other teams, but the Hornets and the Panthers are my two favorite. I am proud to support my hometown teams since I'm from Charlotte.

What sports do you play?

Before COVID-19, I was actually playing three sports: basketball, flag football, and had just started playing baseball. Like many things, everything stopped because of COVID-19. Despite the pandemic, I was able to play a short flag football season with New Age Flag Football which just ended.

If you could meet any athlete, who would it be?

I would love to meet Michael Jordan. What do you think the benefits of sports are?

Playing sports is teaching me the importance of teamwork, hard work, and consistency. These are things I can apply in school and life.

Where do you see yourself in 1, 5, and 10 years?

I'm only eight now, but next year I'll be in fourth grade and hope to have grown my YouTube channel along with my business. I recently started selling branded face masks to keep my family and friends safe during the pandemic—my plan is to expand and sell additional merchandise like hoodies, socks, and shirts. The success of my business has allowed me to give back and help others by supporting local nonprofits like Baby Bundles and the Pride Entrepreneur Education Program. In the next five to ten years, I hope to continue helping others, succeed academically, and become a successful entrepreneur.

Playing sports is teaching me the importance of teamwork, hard work, and consistency.

Let's play favorites! What's your favorite...?

Food? Red apples!

Dessert? Ice cream sandwiches Movie? Like Mike and Creed YouTube channel? Other than my channel, my other favorite channel is "Typical Gamer." It's a gaming channel that also has pranks. He has 10 million subscribers which is pretty impressive.

App? YouTube and ESPN

Book? Family Huddle by Payton, Eli, and Archi Manning. It's a great story that never gets old.

Game? For video games, it's a tie between Fortnite and Madden 21.
