Most people are unaware that NC ranks #8 among all 50 states in reported cases of human trafficking and that Charlotte is the #1 city in our state for it.
A nonprofit organization here in CLT, @justiceministries, helps victims of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation with a focus on rescue and housing. Justice Ministries helps victims get out of their situations and into a safe place, facilitate an environment conducive for healing, and assists in their transition to independence. Justice Ministries' big annual "Light The Way" fundraising gala is coming up on October 4th @project658. Fundraising is a huge need and every donation makes a difference in funding the life-saving work they do. It's estimated that only 1-2% of trafficking victims will ever be rescued. If that statistic breaks your heart, consider attending this gala to help @justiceministries "light the way" for victims of trafficking in our city. The host venue for the gala, Project658, is a nonprofit that serves at-risk families in CLT, including refugees, those in poverty, and those with physical/mental disabilities. For every #LTWgala2018 ticket purchased, Project658 will donate a healthy meal to a refugee or immigrant family connected with them!
